World Water Day Appeal 2023

Access to clean and safe water is a fundamental human right, yet millions of people around the world still lack access to it. Bristol based charity Frank Water are working towards making clean and safe drinking water accessible to people who are denied this right.

Frank Water has worked in India and Nepal to provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education to over 492,854 people. They have also launched a range of refillable water bottles and set up water refill stations in the UK to encourage people to reduce their use of single-use plastics.

Without access to clean water, people are at risk of waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid fever, which can be fatal. Additionally, lack of access to clean water can lead to malnutrition, as people may have to rely on contaminated water for farming and agriculture.

The use of water is also important in the development and building of electronics. Electronic manufacturing requires large amounts of water for processes such as cooling, cleaning, and chemical treatments. However, the process of producing electronics can also generate wastewater that contains toxic chemicals and heavy metals. If this wastewater is not properly treated and disposed of, it can pollute local water sources and harm both human health and the environment.

This is where the importance of organisations like Frank Water comes in. By providing clean and safe water to communities in developing countries, they are not only improving the health and well-being of individuals but also reducing the potential for pollution and environmental harm caused by electronic manufacturing.

Here at Minirig we design speakers that are designed to last and reduce waste and are very proud to be supporters of Frank Water. The importance of clean water extends beyond human health and well-being, but also to sustainable development and manufacturing practices. Supporting charities like Frank Water can make a significant difference in ensuring that everyone has access to this fundamental human right.
